What are the Min Progress (%), Max Suggestions and Line Limit advanced settings for?
Short answer
The three are located on the AI Learning & Teacher Tracking tab, in the AI Learning Tracking view, in the Advanced Settings strip, and affect only the suggestion list that this view prepares with Refresh; they do not change the learning thresholds of the vService or the automatic run. Min Progress (%) (default 50; 1–100): the lowest progress a suggestion must reach to enter the list; if it is lowered, immature candidates also appear, but the automatic run always requires 100%. Max Suggestions (default 1,000): when the view has accumulated this many eligible suggestions, it stops reading and lists the suggestions with the highest progress. Line Limit (default 1,000,000; 1,000–10,000,000): the maximum number of record rows the view will read; if it is increased, older records in the window of the selected period are reached, but the list is prepared later. The three values are stored per user; a Min progress lowered once stays valid in the following reviews as well unless it is reverted.
Settings
| Field | Default · range | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Min Progress (%) | 50 · 1–100 | The lowest progress to be listed (How is Learning Progress read (Request, Client, Country, ASN network axes); why is the lowest axis decisive?) |
| Max Suggestions | 1,000 · 1–100,000 | The maximum number of suggestions to be listed; when the limit is reached, reading stops |
| Line Limit | 1,000,000 · 1,000–10,000,000 | The maximum number of record rows the view will read; reading is done from the newest to the oldest |
- The strip is opened with Advanced Settings on the toolbar of the view and is present only in the AI Learning Tracking view; the thresholds of the Teacher Tracking view cannot be adjusted.
- After a value is changed, the list is prepared again by clicking Refresh.
- The view reads the window of the selected AI Learning Frequency option (the last 1 day if no period is selected); Line limit determines how much of this window is reached.
- The automatic run has its own limits: 100% progress and a row limit that depends on the period (What do the AI Learning evaluation periods (30 min / 1 day … 1 day / 3 months) mean?). The real thresholds are changed in the Learning Methods window.
- The listed suggestions can be applied manually: Can I apply AI Learning's suggestions manually without waiting for it to apply them automatically (Learn Selected)?
Common Misconceptions
- "Lowering Min progress speeds up AI learning." It only widens the list; the automatic applying of AI Learning still requires 100%.
- "The settings are common to everyone." They are stored per user; another user sees the list with their own values.
- "Increasing Line limit makes a longer time span be read." The time span is limited by the window of the selected period; Line Limit only determines how much of this window is read.
