What is the Left Monitor Panel; which objects does it let me monitor?
Short answer
Left Monitor Panel is the panel located on the left of the TR7 interface that shows the objects in the selected category in a single list together with their statuses and the value of a selected metric. There are nine default categories: Load Balancer vServices, WAF-Protected vServices, AGS-Enabled vServices, Bot/DDoS Protected vServices, Backend Services, Backend Service Groups, GTM, Interfaces and Route Tables & L4 DDoS. When a row in the list is clicked, the Dashboard of that object opens on the main screen; this is why the panel is the main way of reaching the object to be monitored. Categories are added, ordered and deleted with Edit Tabs; the category list, the filters, the view settings, the width of the panel and whether it is collapsed are saved to the user account.
Where It Is Used in TR7
| Where | Field / label | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Left side of the interface → category name | Category list | Switching between categories |
| Top right of the category list | Edit Tabs → Add Tab, Reset to Defaults | Adding, ordering and deleting categories, returning to the nine default categories |
| Add Tab window | Tab Type, Custom Name | The type and name of the category to be added |
| Category screen | Search, Filter, Settings → View Settings window | Searching and filtering the list, selecting the view and the metric |
| Right of the toolbar | Collapse | Collapsing the panel to an icon strip |
| A row in the list | Click | Opening the object's Dashboard; in the WAF, AGS and Bot/DDoS categories the vService's Dashboard for that module opens, and in Backend Service Groups the group's Dashboard opens |
Categories
| Category | Objects it lists |
|---|---|
| Load Balancer vServices | All vServices |
| WAF-Protected vServices | vServices with WAF protection enabled |
| AGS-Enabled vServices | AGS-enabled vServices |
| Bot/DDoS Protected vServices | vServices with Bot/DDoS protection enabled |
| Backend Services | Backend Services that are not bound to a Backend Group |
| Backend Service Groups | Backend Group members, under the header of their groups |
| GTM | DNS services |
| Interfaces | Network interfaces |
| Route Tables & L4 DDoS | Route tables and L4 DDoS metrics |
The WAF-Protected vServices and GTM categories appear only if the related module is enabled in the license and the user has permission for that area; the AGS-Enabled vServices and Bot/DDoS Protected vServices categories require the Load Balancer permission in addition to the license; the other categories are listed according to the user's permissions. Common Misconceptions
- "Left Monitor Panel is for configuration." The panel is for monitoring and reaching objects; the configuration screens are reached through Configuration Menu.
- "The panel layout is specific to this browser." The category list, the filters, the view settings, the width and the collapse state are saved to the user account; the same user sees the same layout even when logging in from another browser, and the layouts of other users are not affected.
- "The same category type can be added only once." The same type can be added more than once; every copy stores its own filters and view settings separately and is distinguished by Custom Name.
