Are there ready-made maintenance / error page templates?
Short answer
Yes. Eight ready pages come with TR7 in English and Turkish versions: Waiting room page, WAF blocking page, Access denied page and Quarantine page. These pages are read-only; they can be selected directly in Show Content and the error actions and in WAF and L7 DDoS / Threat Protection profiles, or copied and edited with the template buttons at the top of the Content Pages → Add form. There is no separate maintenance template; the most suitable starting point for a maintenance or error page is the Access denied page template.
How Does It Work?
- The ready pages come with TR7 and appear in the Content Pages list together with the user pages; they cannot be edited or deleted.
- When an action or profile asks for a content page, a ready page is selected directly. The Content Page field of Show content and the error actions comes with Access Denied Page (English) selected.
- If the content of a ready page is to be changed, the template button at the top of the Content Pages → Add form is clicked; the content and the Content Type are copied to the form, edited and saved under a new name. The ready page itself does not change.
| Ready page | Heading text | Designed for |
|---|---|---|
| Access Denied Page (English / Turkish) | Access Denied / Erişiminiz Reddedildi | Access blocking; default in Show content and the error actions |
| Quarantine Page (English / Turkish) | Your Access Is Temporarily Suspended / Erişiminiz Geçici Olarak Durduruldu | Quarantine action |
| WAF Blocking Page (English / Turkish) | Your Access To This Page Has Been Blocked! / Sayfaya Erişiminiz Engellenmiştir! | WAF blocking response |
| Waiting room page (English / Turkish) | You are in line / Sıradasınız (with the number of people ahead and the estimated waiting time) | L7 DDoS / Threat Protection waiting room |
The Access denied, Quarantine and WAF blocking pages use the same simple design and show request-specific information with Smart Variable: the time at the top right (%TIME), and Request ID (%UID) and IP Address (%SRCIP) at the bottom. The selectors also have the Default Profile, which carries only the TR7 logo; since it contains no error text, using it as a maintenance and error page is not recommended.
Creating a Page from a Template in TR7
- Load Balancer → Profiles → Content Pages → Add is opened (how to add).
- From the template buttons at the top of the form, Access Denied Page (Turkish) is selected; the content and the Content Type (
text/html) are copied to the form, the name is not copied. - Content Page Name is entered (e.g.
bakim-sayfasi); the heading text is edited according to the maintenance or error situation in place of "Erişiminiz Reddedildi". Since the template is a full HTML page, the Content field opens in the Visual editor; to edit it with code, HTML source is switched to. - It is saved with Add. The new page is selected in the Content Page field of the Show content, Show Content for Traffic Manager Errors and Show Content for Backend Service Errors actions (How do I publish a maintenance page?).
Common Misconceptions
- "The ready pages can be edited directly." The ready pages are read-only; for a change, a copy is created with the template button.
- "There is a separate ready page for maintenance." There is not; the heading of the Access Denied Page template is replaced with a maintenance text, or a custom page is prepared (What is the Content Pages profile; how do I prepare my own HTML page?).
- "The Waiting room page can be used as a maintenance page." This page is designed to show the queue and time information of the waiting room.
- "The ready pages are only in English." Every page also has a Turkish version; the English version that comes as the default in the actions can be replaced with its Turkish version.
