Can I export lists as Excel, CSV or PDF?
Short answer
Yes. The Export button in the toolbar of table screens such as the vService list, Backend Services, Backend Groups, Conditions, Actions and the profile lists downloads the table as Excel (.xlsx), CSV or PDF. In the Export Table window that opens, Filename, Format, Data Source and Columns are selected; the CSV Separator field appears for CSV, Excel Sheet Name for Excel, and Page Orientation and Page Size for PDF. The default format is Excel, the data source is All Data (filtered & sorted), and the columns are the ones visible at that moment. The file contains the current search and filter result of the table; it is not a configuration backup (Can I back up and restore the configuration?).
Problem: The List Needs to Be Shared in Another Environment
For inventory, audit or reporting, the vService, Backend Service or profile lists need to be transferred to another environment as a table.
Solution
The same Export window is used on all table screens; the steps below are described on the vService list. On the Backend Service and profile lists, the window and the fields are the same as well (Backend Services · Export, Profile lists · Export).
Export
- How it worksExport downloads the current search and filter result of the table as a file in the selected format.
- Where it is opened List screen → toolbar → Export (tooltip:
Export table) - Requirement Permission to view the list.
- Scope All table screens
Step-by-Step Configuration
Configuration Menu → Load Balancer → Load Balancer vService List is opened.
The Export button in the toolbar is clicked; the Export Table window opens.
Filename is required; the default value is in the form TR7 - <table-name> - <date-time>. In the Format field, Excel (.xlsx) (default), CSV or PDF is selected.
In the Data Source field, All Data (filtered & sorted) (default; all the records, filtered and sorted in the order on the screen), All Data (filtered, original order) (filtered records in the original order) or Current Page Only (only the page on the screen) is selected. In the Columns list, the columns visible at that moment come checked; columns hidden in the table (e.g. Algorithm in the vService list) are also added to the file by checking them here.
An additional field appears according to the selected format:
| Format | Field | Options (default in bold) |
|---|---|---|
| CSV | CSV Separator | Comma (,) - English, Semicolon (😉 - European Excel, Tab, Pipe (|) |
| Excel (.xlsx) | Excel Sheet Name | Default table name |
| Page Orientation · Page Size | Landscape, Portrait · A4, A3, Letter, Legal |
In Excel installations whose decimal separator is a comma, Semicolon (;) - European Excel is selected so that the CSV is split into columns correctly.
The Accept button is clicked; the file is downloaded to the browser.
Verification
The number of rows in the downloaded file is compared with the Showing N-M of T records information in the Page Information field below the table.
With Current Page Only, records N-M; with the others, T recordsCommon Mistakes
- Taking the exported file for a backup. The file cannot be restored; for a configuration backup: Can I back up and restore the configuration?
- Expecting the whole list to come without clearing the search. The search and filter result is exported; for the whole list, the search and the filter are cleared.
- The CSV falling into a single column in an Excel whose decimal separator is a comma.
Semicolon (;) - European Excelis selected as the CSV Separator. - Expecting the hidden columns to be in the file. Columns hidden in the table are checked separately in the Columns list.
