Why can't I see the Report tab?
Short answer
The Report tab appears only if a Reports profile is assigned to the vService; if no profile is assigned, the tab does not appear at all and no report can be generated (how to access). The solution is to edit the vService, check the Report option in the Details panel, select the report profile and save; in WEB-CLI, the --reportProfile field of the lb service update command is used. Report divisions are generated only on an HTTP vService; on L7 TCP the divisions come back empty, and there is no reporting on a Network vService. The screen requires Load Balancer or WAF monitoring permission; there is no additional permission specific to reports.
Possible Causes
| Cause | How to recognize it | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Reports profile is assigned | The Reports icon in the bottom icon strip of the Data Flow Panel is faded; "No report profile is selected" is written in the Load Balancer Management tab | The profile is assigned (below) |
| The vService is of the Network type | The vService type is Network | Reporting is used on an HTTP vService |
| No monitoring permission | The vService screen does not open at all | The user is given Load Balancer or WAF monitoring permission |
| The tab is there but the report is empty | "No report yet" message | The HTML report is lost when the tab is left; it is generated again with Generate Report |
How Is the Profile Assigned?
- Profile (if needed): A report profile is created with Load Balancer → Profiles → Reports → Add and saved with Add (how to add). The built-in Default Profile can also be selected.
- vService form: On the Load Balancer → Load Balancer vService List screen, the vService is right-clicked and Edit is selected.
- Report option: In the Details panel, Report is checked and the profile is selected; when it is checked, the built-in Default profile comes selected. If more than one profile is selected, the first one becomes the main profile.
- Save: The Save button is clicked. In a cluster setup, with the default auto-sync, the change is also sent to the peer device; if Manual Sync Mode is on, it is sent manually with Synchronize.
- Alternative: In the Profiles section of the Load Balancer Management tab of the vService screen, editing is opened from the report row.
- WEB-CLI:
lb service update id <vService> --reportProfile <profile>; the command sets the main report profile of the vService and, if there is one, replaces the current main profile. For the built-in profile, the value isdefault.
Report appears in the tab bar. Report data is collected from the moment the profile is assigned; a report for the period before that comes back empty. Report generation: How is a report created; which formats are available (HTML, PDF, XLSX)?
Common Misconceptions
- "When the profile is assigned, past periods are also reported." Data collection starts at the moment the profile is assigned.
- "The empty divisions on L7 TCP are an error." Divisions are generated only on an HTTP vService.
- "A separate permission is required for reports." Permission to access the vService screen (Load Balancer or WAF monitoring) is sufficient.
- "The report is deleted when the tab is left." Only the HTML report generated on the screen drops; the Report tab stays as long as the profile is assigned.
