Can I export the Backend Services and Backend Groups lists (Export)?
Short answer
Yes. The Export Table button in the toolbar of the Backend Services and Backend Groups lists downloads the table as Excel (.xlsx), CSV or PDF; which columns and which rows (all filtered data or only the current page) are taken can be selected. This is a table export; it cannot be imported. To view the records on the command line, lb backend list in WEB-CLI is used, and for a restorable backup of the whole configuration, Backup & Restore is used.
Problem: Sharing the Backend Service Inventory
For an audit, a change plan or sharing between teams, the address, port, health check and usage information of the Backend Services may need to be taken as a file. A screenshot or manual copying is both laborious and error-prone.
Solution: Three Methods
| Your situation | Suitable method |
|---|---|
| Taking the list as Excel/CSV/PDF | Method 1: Export Table |
| Viewing the records on the command line or using them in a script | Method 2: WEB-CLI list/show |
| Storing the whole configuration in a restorable form | Method 3: Backup & Restore |
Method 1: Export Table Recommended
- How it works The visible data of the table (with search, filter and Usage Filter applied) is written to a file in the selected format.
- Where it is openedLoad Balancer → Backend Services / Backend Groups → the Export Table button in the toolbar (green file icon)
- Requirement None
- vService type All
Step-by-Step Configuration
If needed, the list is narrowed down with search, Filter or Usage Filter. In Backend Groups, Show Backend Services is turned on to take the servers individually.
The Export Table button in the toolbar is clicked; the Export Table window opens.
- Filename: Default
TR7 - Table - GG.AA.YYYY SS:dd; the extension is added automatically. - Format: Excel (.xlsx) (default), CSV or PDF.
- Data Source: All Data (filtered & sorted) (default), All Data (filtered, original order) or Current Page Only.
- Columns: The visible columns are preselected; at least one column is required.
- Format-specific fields: CSV Separator for CSV, Excel Sheet Name for Excel, Page Orientation and Page Size for PDF.
Accept is clicked; the file is downloaded to the browser.
Verification
The file is opened and the row count is compared with the record count in the list.
The rows and the selected columns are in the fileMethod 2: WEB-CLI list / show
- How it works
lb backend listprints all Backend Services andlb backend showprints a single record to the screen; the output can be copied. It does not produce a file. - Where it is opened TR7 WEB-CLI →
lb backend/lb backend-group - Requirement WEB-CLI access
- vService type All
Step-by-Step Configuration
The commands in the command summary are used:
lb backend list
lb backend show <id>
lb backend-group listVerification
The records in the output are compared with the list in the panel.
All records are listedMethod 3: Backup & Restore
- How it works The whole configuration of TR7, including the Backend Services, is stored as a restorable backup.
- Where it is openedSettings → Backup & Restore → Add
- Requirement Settings access
- vService type All
Step-by-Step Configuration
Settings → Backup & Restore → Add is clicked (how to add).
System (Current) is selected as the Backup Source, and a descriptive name is given to the backup; if the name is left empty, it is given automatically.
Submit is clicked. In WEB-CLI, the same task is done with settings backup create.
Verification
The new record appears in the Backup & Restore list.
The new backup is in the listCommon Mistakes
- Assuming Export is a configuration backup. Export is a table dump; it cannot be imported and cannot be used to restore Backend Services.
- Expecting the live status in the Health column. In the exported file, the Health column contains not the current status but the assigned health check profile ("name (Type)" or "No check").
- Forgetting the filter. Export takes the result of search, filter and Usage Filter; if all records are wanted, the filters are removed.
- Taking the group servers incompletely. In Backend Groups, while Show Backend Services is off, "Total of N" is written in the Address column; for the server addresses, Show Backend Services is turned on.
