Getting Started
What Is Getting Started?
Getting Started is the starting page prepared for first-time visitors to the TR7 Frequently Asked Questions site. It brings together in one place how the questions are split into sections and categories, what the levels describe, which parts a question page consists of and how the question being looked for is found.
The FAQ answers questions about TR7 products with a short answer and an explanation. Detailed descriptions of screens and fields are in the TR7 documentation; every question links to the documentation pages where the topic is covered.
Sections and Categories
Questions are split into five sections. The Glossary section explains network, protocol, security and product terms that appear on TR7's screens and in its logs; the other four sections belong to TR7 products. Bot/DDoS questions are in the WAF - WAAP section.
Each section is split into categories; categories are listed in the same order on the section page and in the sidebar. The question ID follows this structure:
| Part | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Section | LB | Load Balancer - ADC (WAF, AGS, GTM; GEN for the Glossary) |
| Category | 07 | Category number within the section; in LB, 07 is the Health Check category |
| Question | 001 | Question number within the category |
Question Levels
Every question is marked with a level; the level shows the prior knowledge the question assumes:
| Level | Scope |
|---|---|
| Basic | Concepts, terms and first steps. |
| Intermediate | Day-to-day configuration and operations. |
| Advanced | Detailed scenarios, fine-tuning and troubleshooting. |
The level appears in the badge above the title on the question page and as a colored dot in the list on the section page.
Structure of a Question Page
Question pages are written with the same skeleton; the explanation sections in the middle vary by question type:
| Part | Content |
|---|---|
| Level and question ID | Shown above the title. Clicking the ID copies the link to the question to the clipboard. |
| Short answer | The answer to the question in a few sentences; the rest of the page expands on it. |
| Explanation | For concept questions, how it works, a comparison table, its counterpart in TR7 and common misconceptions. For problem and configuration questions, the cause, the solution methods, a method selection table, step-by-step configuration, verification and common mistakes. |
| How it is done in the documentation | Links to the documentation pages where the topic is covered. |
| Related questions | FAQ questions that approach the same topic from a different angle. |

Finding a Question
| Way | How It Is Used |

| Sections menu | Gives direct access from the top bar to the pages of the five sections. |
Where to Start?
| Need | Starting Point |
|---|---|
| The meaning of a term | Glossary |
| Getting to know a product for the first time | The section's Fundamentals category; e.g. Load Balancer - ADC Fundamentals and Getting Started |
| Finding the cause of an error | The Troubleshooting category in the Load Balancer - ADC and WAF - WAAP sections; e.g. WAF - WAAP Troubleshooting |

FAQ and Documentation
The FAQ and the documentation are linked to each other. An FAQ question gives the short answer and the essence of the topic, and points to the documentation page for details. Documentation pages also link to the FAQ questions related to the topic they cover.
If the answer being looked for cannot be found, the questions are sent to support@tr7.com.
