What is the Configuration Menu; how does it differ from the Left Monitor Panel?
Short answer
Configuration Menu is the menu that is opened by clicking the TR7 logo at the bottom left corner of the screen or with the Alt + M shortcut and that provides access to the configuration screens of TR7 from a single point. On the left there are at most eight tabs (Load Balancer, WAF, Bot/DDoS, Certificates & PKI, AGS, GTM, Network, Settings), and on the right the cards of the selected tab; every card opens the related screen or lists its sub-screens. Its difference from Left Monitor Panel is its function: the panel lists objects with their statuses and leads to the object's Dashboard, whereas Configuration Menu leads to the configuration screens where the objects and settings are defined.
Where It Is Used in TR7
| Where | Field / label | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Bottom left corner | TR7 logo, Alt + M (how it is opened and closed) | Opening and closing the menu; Esc returns one level up inside a group card and closes the menu at the first level |
| Left column of the menu | Tabs | Module selection; tabs for which the user has no permission are not listed |
| Right panel of the menu | Cards | Opening the configuration screen or, in a group card, listing the sub-screens |
| Bottom strip of the menu | Dashboard link, user block, Logout (Configuration Menu screen) | Returning to Home & Dashboard, opening the user's account screen, closing the session |
Comparison
| Left Monitor Panel | Configuration Menu | |
|---|---|---|

| Appearance | Category selector, object list, status and metric | Module tabs and cards |
| Screen it opens | The object's Dashboard | Configuration screens (lists, profiles, settings) |
| Personalization | Categories, filters and view are saved to the user account | The tab and card layout is fixed; it changes only according to permissions and the license |
To reach a screen directly by its name, Search Bar is used: What is the Search Bar; what can I search for?
Common Misconceptions
- "Eight tabs always appear in the menu." The tabs are listed according to the user's permissions; the WAF, Bot/DDoS, AGS and GTM tabs additionally require the related module to be enabled in the license.
- "The menu is opened only with the logo." The Alt + M shortcut also opens and closes the menu; clicking outside the menu panel also closes the menu.
- "The tabs in the menu are exactly the same as the products in the license." Certificates & PKI, Network and Settings are not separate products; they are the tabs of the platform components that all the products use in common.
